Scanning operations run in a thread, so you will see results almost instantly while TreeSize Free is working in the background. It works on the MFT (Master File Table) and reaches extremely high scan speeds. You can use the filters, for example, to find files of a certain type, such as temporary files, text files, or images, and use this information to clean up your hard disks. Scan results can be broken down with the flexible filter feature. Here you will find the size or number of files as well as the last access date and the owner (and other useful facts). The column view presents more detailed information for each file and folder. It scans network drives and locally synchronized cloud shares (except on Windows servers and within a Windows domain) - just like TreeSize Personal! for files of a certain type, can be applied. This was the moment I realised, before even driving it, that this was shaping up to be a great purchase. It was a mix of excitement and anticipation the day I went to pick the car up, as it was the first time I had seen an i20N in the metal. That gamble paid off with the wait times blowing out to almost two years now and some price increases to boot. I placed a deposit down sight unseen as I anticipated that it would be a car that would end up being highly sought after following the reviews coming out of Europe. How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car? To round out the ownership experience, to have N Australia properly engaged with N owners and putting on drive days, track days and other events it makes you feel you’re part of something a little bit more than just a car purchase. Sure there are some hard plastics used throughout the interior, but they are executed well with the introduction of various textures and I’ve never been one to see the need to fondle the dashboard or the door card material. Is it a coincidence that Hyundai’s design boss, Luc Donckerwolke, penned the likes of the Murciélago? The new angular design language from Hyundai is clearly apparent with some of the chiseled details looking more like something you’d see on a Lamborghini. Whilst on the subject of design, this little hatch really pushes the boundaries of automotive aesthetics in a very good way. In fact, it performs better than my partners Corolla where front leg room is very compromised with a rear facing child seat installed. In the i20N you have ample knee room in the front with one of these installed. One of the most impressive aspects of this became evident when we placed the rear facing child seat in the car, which are renowned for making front passenger’s knees becoming a semi-permanent fixture of the dashboard. You really do feel like you are in a bigger car thanks to this. The way the design team at Hyundai have packaged this car is very well executed. I think the first words I heard were “that’s louder than your old car!”, which I kind of took as bit of a badge of honour. With it being a Hyundai, it was much easier to get the purchase across the line with the minister for finance by framing it as “babe, it’s a sensible small Hyundai hatchback.” That line worked until I drove it into the garage for the first time and it was pretty evident that it wasn’t just a normal Hyundai. It’s these little moments where you realise how far Hyundai have come. It’s a nice feeling when you’ve got blokes in their track dedicated M3 BMW coming across to your pit garage for a closer look at what this new Hyundai is all about. Given there are so few i20Ns on the road in Australia it gives you a kind of cool sense that you are driving something unique, which is a bizarre thought to be having about a Hyundai hatchback. A car that you look back at as you walk away from it, much to the disdain of your wife/partner.įrom when you approach it and admire its angular design details to when you jump inside and sit in the body hugging seats, to when you press that smile inducing ‘N’ button on the steering wheel this car just makes you feel good. I have no regrets purchasing this car from the experience to date.Īs a car guy, the main reason to buy a car is to have something that you look forward to getting behind the wheel every time. What do you think of the ownership experience with your car? There are a few rattles within the door cards, but they have settled somewhat over the first 10,000km. And at the end of the day, drove it home and it didn’t feel like a smoking pile of proverbial.Ī slight knock has developed in the front left area from around 7000km, which is going to be looked at the first major service, but hasn’t affected the drivability of the car. It didn’t even cook the brake fluid as I thought it might. For an absolutely stock car to roll off the showroom floor and onto a track (don’t worry there was a lengthy run in period between the two) and run all day at a hot humid Winton Raceway and not miss a beat, was impressive. The track day is probably worth mentioning in a little more detail as this is where the car really shines and delivers what is claimed on the box. Is it even an ‘N’ car if you haven’t attended at least one track day in the first 10,000km? The i20 N has been very reliable after 10,000km, including one track day. How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues. Lindell confirmed to ABC News last month that he met with then-President Trump a week after the Jan. Last month, Dominion filed billion-dollar defamation suits against Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney, and Sidney Powell, a member of the president's legal team who was later removed. The suit is the latest in a series of complaints filed by the Denver-based voting company after it became the center of false conspiracy theories pushed by Donald Trump and many of his closest supporters and allies. Mike Lindell needs to be held accountable for defaming Dominion and undermining the integrity of our electoral system all the while profiting from it." "It would be easy to rack this up as a piece of fiction that is not worth any response," Dominion legal counsel Megan Meier said of Lindell's election fraud claims, "but unfortunately, countless people actually believed it and sent MyPillow some of their hard-earned money as a result. "Because of this, I can't go on the TV because they're afraid I'll say the word 'corrupt Dominion.' I've lost my company Twitter account, all this money." MyPillow did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for comment on the photographed notes."I've lost over twenty retailers because of the cancel culture," Lindell said. “It was stuff to help the American people.” “The attorney said, ‘Can you bring these to him,'” Lindell told the Times. Lindell told both the Times and the Washington Examiner on Friday that the photographed notes were not, in fact, his, and that he was delivering a message given to him by an attorney, whom Lindell did not identify by name. This week, Lindell’s bedding company continued a “FightForTrump” discount code for its products, even after Trump for the first time admitted electoral defeat in recorded remarks the day after the Capitol attack. Trump has since been impeached by the House with a charge of inciting the riot, in which five people died amid the chaos. The riot followed a “Stop the Steal” rally on the National Mall, where Trump urged his supporters to march to Congress to protest the certification of Biden’s win. 6, in the aftermath of the pro-Trump mob attack on the Capitol, Lindell issued several tweets claiming that “antifa is responsible for the attacks.” The FBI last week said there was no evidence suggesting that members of the left-wing movement were involved in the deadly storming of the Capitol. According to tallies by The Associated Press, Biden secured more than 81 million votes in the election, with Trump at approximately 74 million. On Friday evening, Lindell tweeted screenshots of a document claiming to show that Trump had won 79 million votes in the 2020 election, compared with 68 million for President-elect Joe Biden. Lindell, who is popularly referred to by many as “the MyPillow guy,” has been a vocal supporter of Trump, especially in recent weeks, when the businessman has on Twitter advanced Trump’s unfounded claims of a “stolen” election. White House officials told The New York Times on Friday that nothing substantial to note came out of Lindell’s meeting with Trump, which the White House said lasted about five to 10 minutes. The notes also make mention of Sidney Powell, the pro-Trump lawyer who led multiple lawsuits challenging 2020 election results over unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter CEO Michael Lindell shows off his notes before going into the West Wing at the White House on Friday, in Washington, DC. The last time the act was invoked by a president was in 1992 in response to the Los Angeles riots following the acquittal of four white police officers in the beating of Rodney King.Īnother line in the photographed notes suggests moving Department of Defense chief of staff Kash Patel to “CIA Acting,” implying a proposal to move Patel to head the intelligence agency with just days left of the Trump administration. Zoomed-in shots of the photographs, taken by Washington Post photographer Jabin Botsford, show the partially visible notes appearing to mention “martial law if necessary” and the “Insurrection Act,” an 1806 law that allows the president to mobilize the military and National Guard troops to quell civil disorder or actions of insurrection. Photographs of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell went viral Friday after social media users were able to catch glimpses of notes he was holding as he walked outside the White House following a meeting with President Trump. Things do go a bit off the rails in the final act, when Caulfield hires a wise-cracking cropduster (Telly Savalas) to help in his hunt Savalas' comic relief comes out of nowhere and fits in with nothing (and why does he call everyone he meets a "pervert"?). The trio end up lost in the desert with government killers on their trail, and Hyams makes the rest of his movie one long chase sequence, with the right blend of excitement and danger. His adventures keep things moving quite well, while Gould's knack for laid-back snark adds some much needed lightness to the proceedings.Īt the one hour mark, the film takes a new turn as the astronauts finally escape (having realized that they're likely to be offed when it comes time to tie up the cover-up's loose ends). Interspersed with this story is a parallel plot featuring sourpuss reporter Robert Caulfield (Elliott Gould), who slowly begins to uncover the conspiracy, stumbling into danger along the way as mysterious government agents attempt to silence him. The cast (even a pre-infamy Simpson, giving the finest performance of his big screen career) is uniformly excellent, and the characters are sharply defined in rewarding ways. And despite the epic approach to the scam (spanning nearly a year, to semi-accurately match the time it would take to get there and back), the story flies by at a steady clip, giving us just enough of a hint at the enormity of the strain on the captive astronauts without bogging us down as well. (Two more digs are made at this: during the faked Mars landing, the President's voice is heard only in the form of a prerecorded message that rambles with political shallowness later, a NASA-connected Congressman, wonderfully played by David Huddleston, rightly predicts an important phone call will come not from the top, but from the veep.) Holbrook, for all his character's villainy, delivers a beautiful, angry monologue about American indifference toward the space race, and how the joys of Armstrong's first steps all too quickly devolved into petty arguments over funding and priorities.Īfter Kelloway's speech, Hyams takes us into some dark territory, as we watch the astronauts reluctantly go along with the hoax - and we chill to the ease at which the whole thing's pulled off. "Capricorn One" toys with this, giving us an opening sequence in which the President is revealed to be too busy to attend the launch of the first rocket to another planet the weaselly Vice President (James Karen) is sent in his stead, and he spends all his time ogling the female form. Mere years after landing on the moon, the public was bored with space exploration itself. More importantly, however, is how the filmmaker addresses a different issue: by the mid-1970s, America hadn't just grown cynical, it had grown apathetic. The idea of NASA having a team of assassins on standby is quite a stretch, but Hyams keeps the threats vague enough to build the right sense of dread and paranoia without openly collapsing into ridiculousness. Oh, and if they don't, their families will be killed. So for the sake of the nation, Kelloway wants his astronauts to play along in faking the whole dang thing. By golly, a Mars landing will do the trick. But such a setback would only worsen national morale, already at a dismal low, and the American people need something proud and courageous to lift up their spirits. There, NASA bigwig James Kelloway (Hal Holbrook) explains that they've had to scrub the mission due to faulty equipment. Simpson) are set to be the first men on Mars, until, minutes away from lift-off, they're scrambled out of the capsule and taken into hiding. While writer/director Hyams originally conceived the idea for the story years earlier, it wouldn't be until Watergate that his notions would really gel after all, with our leaders lying to us about everything else, why wouldn't they add the space race to the list?Īstronauts Brubaker (James Brolin), Willis (Sam Waterston), and Walker (O.J. The movie is a clever play on the beliefs of those moon landing conspiracy nutters - you know, the folks who, despite trivial things like "facts" and "evidence," swear the Apollo mission was all a big put-on. Here's a film that wants not only to reflect the cynicism of its time, but also study it, openly wondering if the mood of the nation could truly be salvaged by heroic deeds, or would we only view those deeds with somber, questioning eyes, too? Remembered today mainly as a bitter, post-Watergate conspiracy thriller, Peter Hyam's "Capricorn One" embraces its genre while simultaneously digging a bit deeper. |
